Newbie with a Rough Situation but a Hopeful Plan. Please Help!

cloning can be a tough art to get started in, in principle it's simple, in practice, well, it takes some practice
cuttings that wilt initially are not unusual, many will recover, but it takes time
from what i can see, your clones are in the same chamber as the mother plant?
if so, that is the problem, too much light
strong light will kill cuttings pretty quick, low light is what is needed
i use a single 13w bulb from a foot away
it takes at least 7 days for a cutting to begin to grow roots, if you give the cutting strong light, it will attempt to grow with no root system
so it will starve to death quickly, i.e. light poisoning

Ah damn. Ok. That's probably it. Shit, Haha I didn't even think that it would be too much.

I'll take some pictures to post along with this question, but I got my ozn 1 and I'm wondering if anyone knows how long I should run it and how often for it being in the vent system of a grow box in a living room.

I'm asking that because of safety issues for the plants and for me.

Anyone have an idea? Living room is about 15 by 25 with a 7 and a half foot ceiling.

Should I be waiting till my plant is producing pistols then? Or just flip the flower switch whenever I want? Which will give me a higher yield?

Well I decided to go with the ozone generator but I'm wondering how long and often I need to have it on to kill smell but not kill my plant or me. and if you guys recommend a good timer for it.

I'd like to see the set up. I wouldn't worry about the ozone killing you. Your plants...eh...people get a little overboard. I smoke cigarettes in the same room as mine BFD...I'm curious to see if this works though. As I mentioned, I had two sharper image ionic breezes that didn't put a dent in flower...that said, it wasn't made for it. You can get any timer, but once that smell is there...even with good equipment it stays for a while. What I mean is that if you leave it off for an extended period of time daily...I think you are going to have this consistent lingering odor. Granted, this is all food for thought and speculation.

ah yeah ill be taking some pics tomorrow. but its the Ozn 1 and i ran it for like five minutes one time and it seems pretty heavy duty.

basically the grow box is seperated into two sections, section one where the lights are at with the plants, and then a duct fan exhausting air into section two which is blocked off with a board, the only hole is there the fan is. section two has the ozone generator which is supposed to kill odors on an atomic level. then there is a pc fan that will exhaust the hopefully odor free air from the box.

Frankly, a carbon filter sounds a lot easier, but since this ship has sailed..I would speculate the exhaust needs to be below the ionizer in the 2nd chamber and the PC fan probably needs to be above the ionizer sucking the air out. Don't quote me on this, but I think the ozone is supposed to bind to the odor molecules and fall to the floor...what doesn't will hopefully be neutralized and sucked through the top. Sections 1 and 2 obviously need to be air tight. You need other opinions on the set up.

that's a negative ion generator, i've seen very mixed results reported on those
good part of negative ion generator is they're harmless
ozone is kind of oxygen on steroids, it's formula is O3 as opposed to the ordinary oxygen we breathe, which is O2
ozone chemically combines with organic molecules to break them down
i would guess the trick is in the mixing of the exhaust air with the ozone
the longer the ozone is in contact with the odors, the more thorough the chemical reaction will be

I dont know if its nute burn, because I just started super light nutes this week. Just in case it was nute burn, i did a small flush. Temps were also kind of high so i am letting those drop.
but otherwise, i have no idea what it is and whats going wrong.

something drastic has happened, it was a few days ago that you switched on your ozone generator?

No when I ran my ozone gen it was only for five minutes and it wasn't even in the same room as the closet I have my girl in. I haven't needed to run it cuz I'm not in flowering yet.

Ugh I dunno what's wrong. Maybe mg deficiency? My water is a bit hard.

And my clones are still standing with the end if some fan leaves brown. Does that mean they are doin well and most likely rooting?

a cutting is going to take 7 days minimum to send out some roots, so if they're still fairly green you may be good, not every plant clones the same, some are much harder than others

Switch to distilled water until you can properly test your water. I would test your water soon to see if you are locking something out. PH and hardness. I thought that was growers being anal and overdoing it, until I figured out it had royally screwed me twice.

Also, that image shack has tried to give me a virus and redirected my browser everytime I click on a pic. Can you just post your pics in the comments? I want to look at them, but after clicking on the first one...i rarely click on a second as I have to shut Explorer down.

Not to alarm you, but your plant issue needs to be addressed soon. I don't know enough about ozone to rule it out, but 5 minutes ....seems unlikely. Right now, I'm leaning toward hard water and PH, but that's coming from my own personal experience and not a highly educated approach. There are a lot of Ganga Gods on this site. I am no expert on plant issues, so take any ideas from me as ideas only, although take the common sense approach of asking for help to heart.

If you need help on a plant issue, you need to work backwards providing as much info as possible and a timeline. Too many people say WTF is this? Inevitably someone chimes in P deficiency dump that on it. But if it's lockout, you just made things worse.

1) We know you are using FFOF
2) What nutes are you using? When did you use them? How much/ratio? What is your schedule? How old is the plant?
3) When did you first notice the issue? Has anything seemed to aggravate this further? When?
4) Have you PH'd anything? Soil, water, runoff ect....
5) If you think water hardness is a factor, you need something to test for that. You can get 5-1 pool or aquarium strips that will test for this and Ph for around $8. Petsmart, walmart ect

I've been using distilled except for this last week because I haven't had q chance to run out and get more. I let the tap water sit for over 24 hours so the bad stuff can evaporate. But I do know the water is pretty hard.

I used that about a cup every other day. Some days two in a row. I believe i started the nutes this week. Like on Saturday. Maybe Friday. So almost a week.
Plant is about a month old and my big fan leaves on the bottom have always kinda had little spots but it dint look bad and the leaves were fine. Now they are bigger and the spots are on the new top leaves and some leaves are dry and crinkly and others are kinda soggy.

I was thinking yesterday when I saw it for the first time, that it could have been heat related. I skipped a day for watering and temps were a bit high.

So I lowered temps and watered. Well see what its like when I get home. Hopefully looking better.

lockout happens at extremes of PH, nutrients need a certain PH range to be absorbed, there's a good chart around here somewhere
hard water can do bad things, depends on how hard it is
the spots you were seeing were a warning, but that's looking backwards

Lockout means your plants won't uptake a nutrient (s). Adding more into the soil won't work until what is locking it out is fixed.

So, lets clarify. You have been using distilled the entire grow except for this week?

Explain Ginormous nutes. Is that veg. What is the ratio?

What did you do every other day or two days in a row?

How often do you water.

If it starts at the bottom and works it way up, I doubt it is heat related. What are the temps?

One thing I know for sure is you need a way to test PH, pronto

i just got home and it looks worse now. its spread to more of the branches on top!!

the temps range in the 90s. since its in a closet it gets a bit warm while im at work but when i get home i open the door.

yes using distilled. i used tap water that i let sit and ive been using that for about the last two weeks.

ginormous is by humbolt. its for blooming. the nutes are, 0-18-16. i only used bwtween 1 and 2 ml in a gallon of water.

i have a measuring cup next to my girl that i measure out about a cup of water a day and then if its dry i sometimes do another one. lately ive been using the nuted up water for watering.

i didnt water it for a day and a half.

i water a cup or two every day.
