House didn't pass inspection. Dry rot under bathroom floor but the worst asbestos in the attic it also needed new electrical panel and wiring. The inspector said there are too many things wrong unless you have lots of money walk away. Oh well glad I had the inspection done by a good guy that told me the truth.

Well I have learned a very good lesson. Do my own inspection before paying the pro $300 to tell me what I should have found myself. More disappointed in myself than anything else. Having a little trouble staying positive. It sure helps having you guys going threw this with me. Thank you all. I hope I'm not whining too much.

Mojo, look at the money spent as a one time insurance payment. We pay thousands of dollars for health, auto, homeowners, renters insurance and never have to use it. You paid the premium and received a benefit. Like sunni said, you could have inspected it yourself and maybe missed something that would have caused the house to be red tagged later AFTER you took ownership. I'd say you did the right thing. Don't beat yourself up over it.
