Thanks Shawns...

Hi Frenchy...

So I understand this correctly 160 is the "working bag", whereas first ice cold water wash of dried trim filled with trichomes will drain through catching anything over 160 microns, thus the working bag. Then I understand that is set aside, and trichomes from the 73 bag are are collected off the bag screen and bag washed in rubbing alcohol and returned back to collection system whereas only the 73 and 45 are still being used. The second wash drains through 73 bag and the 45, then only separated from 73 bag collection. 73 bag is cleaned and NOT placed back in collection system. Third final wash goes directly in 45 bag. 45 micron trichomes collected from bag screen.

So here is my question with the three washes having produced one 160 micron collection, two 73 micron collections and one 45 collection how are these collectively mixed together? And Why?
Hey Dank,
I actually do not mix my different grade most of the time. It happens with the 73 microns when the quality is high but otherwise I keep them separate

I dont mind to be a pain in the ass but for those that dont use a machine: 160/73/45. Those are the bags you need am i right? Ordering as you soon as i get my monthly pay :)

Edit:

I went back on the thread, seems like those are the bags but just wanted to be sure and not buy a 220 instead of a 160 as the working bag.

Frenchy why is it that you advise us from staying away from dry sieving even though it produce the best quality? Why is it that you're not using this method yourself? Is it for sheer quantity? The pleasure of learning a new method?

I'm very interested in dry sieving method since you told me that afghani do their hash this way. I like bubble hash but for some reason it doesnt taste like hash to me, more like flower.

I've pressed my last batch and the piece is curing atm. I'm sure it'll make a big difference giving the trichomes their full potential :)
If you could think about making a dry sieving tutorial like you did for the pressing you would not make my day but my year!

I really hope i'll have the chance to meet you someday just to shake your hand, thanks for all the great infos , awesome thread!

To all of you: i wish i had a camera to share with you guys. Just understand that while you guys have some legal state in the US the rest of the world is still really un-friendly when it comes to cannabis and posting pics on the web - they use to call me a conspiracy theorist before that prism bs haha - is not the first thing one would do in the paranoid world of european grower. Most of my friend dont know that i'm doing this so...on the other hand i'm learning a lot and it's all about sharing so i'm seriously considering posting sooner or later - even though it wouldnt mean shit compare to most of the pics i see haha.

Have a dank day every one!

Hey SH, I recently added the 190 as a catch bag, Nikka T has some very good result with it, not with every strains but often enough. Also do not do your mixing in the catch bag, do it in a plastic container that is food grade then pass it through your bags.
I have not consciously advised to stay away from dry sieving, most of my knowledge on collecting trichomes is dry sieve that I adapted to "water sieve". Boltdbag are making a "sieving machine" for me so that I will be able to work dry and in perfect conditions but it will take a while before I got my new toy. I will be making dry sieve for CA this season and enter the Hash at the Emerald Cup. You also have a point on the quantity since dry sieve highest quality has to be done in the gentlest way but you can always finish with water and do both. The pleasure of discovering a new method and adapting it to my set of techniques is not the only reason that keeps me away from dry sieving but to be truthful the main one.
I will make a dry sieve tutorial as well as a fresh trims tutorial with TC by the end of August hopefully.
All the best SH and may the Dankness always be with you

Thank you very much (Sir - just for this one) can't wait for those new tutorial.

I was messing with my catch bag trying to see what i could do , but it was closer to kief than proper hash - impurities and "green" material i guess.

I always thought that by watching others you could learn everything, but when it comes to arts listening is just as important and the eye can even sometime become "your ennemy".

Life's beautiful when we learn and look forward to learn even more. Thank you!

You have to realize that I have nothing to do with Boltdbags business, I am just giving you the connection I use and that is all. However there must be quite a few of you ordering bags I guess to have the big boss visiting and giving me 3 machines and a bunch of bags and non sticky pads.
They are the best, give me custom made products and have the most beautiful and sweet rep in the US. I love them and what they do, as simple as that.

Don't forget to show us what you do.
Official, I will be a speaker at the next Emerald Cup, most certainly a one man show and not part of a panel, possibly both.
I am quite pump up on that one and a little intimidated by the type of audience I will have. We are talking about the best of the best here and this year even more so, with growers and breeders from Europe and all part of the States. This will not be only the Humboldt community competing (which is intimidating enough), the best come to compete with the Emerald Triangle.
