I think you should ask klx, I'm reproducing his work to some extent.
Background:
Lol, if I were to enter it would need to be an 8 week or less comp.
I just did 20% more than my previous largest haul, off going straight to 12/12 after rooting.
Vegging is a waste of time. just use at least 4" cuttings.
I'm with you on bigger cuttings => bigger/faster growth but with seeds... would you start with 12/12? I read something recently saying that 12/12 from seed just loses out on veg. growth. Asking because along with my other plants I just started 11 beans for a test grow and want to flip the lights asap but without reducing the beans potential if possible.

You will always get bigger plants from vegging them but if you dont veg you can fit more plants in the same area. If you have room and time, veg them for sure. When I pheno hunt from seed I always give the seedlings a couple of weeks in 18/6 before flipping them to flower.

From clone I just go straight to flower and put more plants in the tray.

Got it. I'll go for two weeks. Thank you

Edit: Will a shorter veg affect the quality of the result or possibly change the expression of each?

Just took some water temp readings (first time ever) and my cloner is 29C and my veg and flower res's are 27-28C. Never have any pathogen problems at these temps as long as I religiously does with H2o2 every few days.
You're a liar! :)
All the 'experts' on this site will tell you that is impossible to grow healthy plants and roots when you don't use a chiller to keep your temps below 21 C.
:bigjoint:

For some people growing is like a religion. They start believing things because someone once told them and they keep repeating it without thinking for themselves.

Heading out of town for 2 weeks. I have a helper but not a grower and not even that great at following instructions but beggars cant be choosers. This tray of Gunslinger are on day 52 so have stripped them to help avoid any potential issues and they will spend a couple weeks ripening and will be all good:

This tray is a little more problematic as its on Day 13 and will keep stretching for another 10 days at least. I will lollipop them and do a bunch of pinching to get the canopy as even as possible then just hope for the best.

What are the jpbs that he or she has to do?
And can't you make the system in such a way that you can stay away for 2 weeks without anybody having to help out?

Top up the tanks and add H2O2. Its pretty easy really. The plants could do with some training during this time but they will be ok and I will just sort it out when I get back.

To make it run fully automated for 2 weeks I could plumb it with float valves but I do like someone trustworthy here to keep an eye on the house anyway.

If I travelled a lot, I would do something like top fed coco. It would be much easier to fully automate.

Just finished trimming the last batch - 554 grams which is at the top end of my usual yield. A bit more annoying to trim as it was not stripped much. Alright, now I am off on holidays take easy growers!!
Nice! Was that the GunSlinger? Looks chunky !

Chop chop for a tray of (mostly) Gunslinger at Day 67

GS Day67.jpg

I have a love/hate relationship with this plant. It is such nice smoke, it really is, but it is a prick to grow. Spindly stems just flop all over the place without support. The only reason I have kept it is the smoke. Here is a close up of a bud:

GS bud Day67.jpg

Have removed all fan leaves and am hanging the whole plant to dry this run, see how it goes:

Decent root mat

Virtually zero salt or bits of root in the tray

Other tray full of Gunslinger on Day 28. They were underfed while I was away which may affect yield a little, but I have given them a fresh res so I expect them to take off from here. This will be the last tray of GS for a while. Am going to do a little hunt of mostly Chuckers Paradise seeds. May start a new thread for that hunt in the hydro section for a change of scenery.

Looks like your garden helper did a good job while you were away.

On the skinny branches with GS, have you tried any silicon supplements? I don't know the percentage gain, but the branches and main stem are visibly bigger when I use silicon. I've done some late-in-the-run supercropping and had to get a pair of pliers to "massage" the branches and bend them!

Great root porn by the way.

Hey mate, yeah he did good, kept everything alive cant ask for more than that.

I have not tried silica supplements as I try to avoid using anything other than base nutes and a bloom boost these days. If a plant needs more than that then its probably better to look for a new mum, which is what I am going to do.

I will keep her around and see if she can make some babies with a nice structure.
