Homeless in America during COVID-19

Ten months into the pandemic, just renters alone owe an estimated $70 billion in back rent and if the hold on evictions is not extended, 30 to 40 million Americans could/will lose their homes before the end of this year from Hell.
Up to 40 million Americans face eviction by the end of 2020 (msn.com)
The CDC had put a temporary hold on all evictions, to protect public health and prevent the spread of COVID-19. However, more coronavirus relief spending is still bogged down in Congress, and many Americans are already getting warnings that they will be tossed out if lawmakers don't act.
Fucking McConnell/Mnuchin are still dithering around over the cost of the supplementary aid package, meanwhile people are going to be tossed into the streets in just 2 weeks.
We are facing a fucking catastrophe of historical proportions and all the GOP is worried about is cost?
They want protection from COVID-19 inspired lawsuits & that's one of their reasons for holding up critically needed assistance?
The other stated reason is the Blue states are looking for "handouts"
What the FUCK!!!!!!!!!!
People are dying/going homeless RIGHT FUCKING NOW!!!!
DO YOUR FUCKING JOBS!!!!!!

Let's not forget the coming commercial real estate collapse now that companies and corporations realize they don't need a large fraction of the land and buildings they've developed over the last 75 years. This is going to be a perfect storm of economic destruction
You know, so Trump, who claimed the Obama economy as his own, can shit on Biden for the next four years for ruining his economy.

Just a taste

I'm somewhat torn on this.

It's not that cut and dry. I know people that own property and people that rent. A good percentage of the people that own rental properties are just small guys that are still paying the mortgage and taxes on the property while not collecting any rent. They have tenants that have abused the eviction moratorium to stop paying their rent.

Many people that got laid off collected both state unemployment and the $600 a week federal payment. They also received the $1200 stimulus check. There were millions of people that were receiving more money not working than when they were. Also, many took advantage of that eviction moratorium to stop paying their rent. Now they're saying they can't pay the back rent or future rent even though they continued to have the money to pay their bills. It was like "They can't evict us. Lets stop paying the rent and buy new IPhones". Now that it's time to pay the piper many are saying they don't have the money to pay the back rent they stopped paying not because they didn't have the money but because they could.

Most people are short sighted and they convinced themselves that even though they had the money "the $600 weekly federal checks" that they would skip the rent and make it up next month. 1 month turned into 2 and then 3. All the while spending money like drunken soldiers. Now it's time to pay the piper and everyone's outraged.

I'm sure glad my parents taught me to be frugal. Always keep a nest egg and never spend on anything you don't absolutely need especially in tough financial times.

Simply put, the system was never prepared for this. And recovery will be impossible as the domino effect reaches the highest level of investment, who own politicians of every stripe

Government policy can be a primary cause of homelessness.

There's so many instances of that, I'll just wait until all the common insults are over (there will be no actual refutations of my assertion) and then. maybe, I'll buttress my argument with examples of why my statement is accurate.

You really don't seem to understand the fear 'one paycheck away' people feel.

I would point to that being a smaller portion of people than what people would like others to believe.

Of course you have people like Kyle Rittenhouse that used his stimulus check to illegally purchase a gun he then later used to murder 3 people. But that doesn't make him the norm.

It is a complex issue though I agree there.

You scored a hat trick of error in just one sentence!! Nice job!!!

There is no constitutional authorization for a "stimulus check".

Gun ownership is not supposed to be infringed.

Rittenhouse was running away from an attack, his pursuers were idiots (who pursues and tries to attack an armed guy without being armed?) and the aggressors, hence not murdered.

I've been very impressed by the support renters have had in my State. They are getting a lot of support on the State level that isn't really reported about on the national front. I have also been shocked how many renters who are behind on rent fail to do the most basic of action and apply for the relieve that is there for them. I believe many of them are hearing things like "second stimulus" and "eviction moratorium" and think they don't need to take advantage of what is there to help them. I have also been very disappointed by how case workers are getting money for their clients who don't need anything. Retired gentleman the other day who has $1800 a month after paying rent asked me for my W9 so his case worker could apply to get him one month's rent free. Retired gentleman who is on a fixed income, ss, and 2 pensions who 100% does not need the money. I would be outraged if it wasn't for the fact that the government gave the wealthy even more free money.

Right, but still murder when it is a Trump supporter that gets shot and killed right?

Also he gave the money to a friend to purchase his gun, because it was illegal for him to buy it. And your bullshit nonsense about 'stimulus check' trolling is asinine.

But sure hat trick.

You seem to want me to support Trumpiness. I don't give a fuck about him. Rioters chased a guy with a gun trying to attack him, not a bright move regardless of political affiliation.

It is illegal to make it illegal to buy guns though. Fail.

If a stimulus check is such a good idea explain why they don't just give everyone a check for a million dollars why donchu then, Professor Bernard Sanders ?

I think you are full of shit and are enjoying this time of disinformation and propaganda to spread your nonsense. You support Trump is obvious when you pretend like wearing a mask is the worst while not saying shit about Trump using federal goons to clear peacefully lawful protestors so he can have a photo op.

As for the rest of your bullshit, you were wrong about Rittenhouse who did illegally buy a gun, and now trying to spin it in your bullshit nonsense trolling into stupidity.

Your 'million dollars' shit is more trolling from you, do you actually not understand that a factor of what, 1000x would have far larger impacts?

We all know he’s a trumper now. He tried to hide it but the stress of trump losing the election wore down his facade.

i trusted these people not one iota and paid my rent with that money they sent because what was going to happen is here now- all of it..the covid deaths, the evictions, the starvation while farmers throw out food they couldn't get to market and rotted in the fields..

the CARES Act signed with 1k daily deaths that ended in August and now the very same lawmakers refuse to sign the HEROES Act with 3k daily deaths.

back in March the math told you rather clearly- the lack of response by the federal government told you we have a dictator.

a dictator with a large sum of money coming due, to other dictators.

How many incredibly stupid moves had to take place before the one you are focused on? Besides, if you had ever been in a riot you'd know that people don't make the best decisions, it becomes a life of it's own. Only a piece of shit looking to kill somebody would bring a gun to one. Little red neck psychopath thought it was open season, for real. I mean for Christ's sake, the silver spoon guy is in his corner.

bingo. workers work from home now, no need for expensive chinese and russian property leases.

there's no such thing as an outside sales rep any longer + business lunch expense account.

it's an amazing amount of money- almost scary to think about.

+ the climate change got better from people not driving.

funny, the paradigm has teutonically shifted, all unseen, all under Trump and all because of his negligence.

last christmas..a year ago if anyone would've told you this..?
