If Elon is selling blue verification check marks, yet does no verification, he is committing fraud, he is pretending to sell something he is not, it's like ordering something online for $8 and receiving nothing, it's mail and wire fraud.

He is selling it as verification that you are who you say you are, and that they have taken proper steps to verify this fact. They call it a verification check and it is sold as one but means nothing as has been proven. You try selling something online and delivering nothing and see what happens to you!
