That's a bit of an oxymoron. How can you be a personal freedoms libertarian but yet still consider yourself a socialist?
Contrary to popular belief they can work hand in hand. What many people refuse to believe is that compromise is needed for social interaction. You cannot have everybody running around thinking they can do as they please with no regulations and still have a civil society (yes a generic overstatement). I'll post some beliefs below and you tell me what you think I am.
these are just a few:
Anti Patriot act
pro gun. period, if you are a threat to society you should more than likely be in prison or a mental institution. If you are not you can own a gun.
pro choice
pro cannabis (really all drugs. as an American citizen you have the right to fuck yourself over, as long as you are not infringing on others, ex: stealing, killing etc to support habit)
pro drinking/voting at age of 17 (if you can join the military and get trained to kill at 17 you should be able to vote and drink)
anti road side stops - illegal search
anti helmet and seat belt laws for those over 17
anti no knocks
anti camera tickets (stop signs, red lights, speeding etc.)
anti supreme court has the power to decide what is and is not constitutional..... read the constitution, nowhere does it give them this power
anti tax exempt churches
pro medicare / medicaid part E .... Healthcare is a right not a privilege
pro free college/ tech school for all who qualify grade wise
pro regulations on corporations that are not people and money is not speech
pro social security
*pro EPA
*pro USDA
*both need better funding and cleaned up regulations
pro union
pro taxes - you do not get shit for free
anti free market/free trade, (no such thing, ever)
anti laissez-faire capitalism
pro fair market/trade
anti war except in true self defense, not the made up self defense shit they claim lately.
anti death penalty - as long as there is
any chance an innocent can be put to death it should be illegal to have the death penalty.
Get to 100% plus that people are guilty and I have no issues with it, reasonable doubt and or the belief somebody is guilty doesn't cut it when somebodies life is on the line.
To put somebody to death there has to be absolute proof, period, not eyewitness only, not it looks like he did it but 100% we know for a fact he did it.
And I do not consider myself a socialist or a Social Democrat or a Communist etc.. etc.... I consider myself a Democratic Socialist, big difference. Go make all the money you wish I do not care, as long as it is not on the backs of the average citizen. Fucking people over with poor products, or poisoning my water and food etc... etc... is unacceptable and I refute the belief the "market" or the people will fix this... maybe after people start dropping... lol. Taking huge pay raises and huge golden parachutes whilst laying off workers or keeping fair wages low so you can make millions and in some cases with stock options billions is wrong, period.
Many people know what "the cost of doing Business" is, many of those same people have no clue what "the cost of having a civilized society" is.
Generic description:
A libertarian is more liberal than a Liberal on matters of personal liberty (me), and he is more conservative than a Conservative on matters of economic autonomy (not me).
Ask away on a subject, I will let you know where I stand.
