    SpicySativa’s Outdoor Experiments

Quick update… The trichomes have arrived, and with them a pleasant smell wafting through my back yard. :)

Can I start to Flower Her???

Lots of naysayers in here… Based on my experience (including with 400 watts in small spaces) I think you have enough room there to grow a nice little plant. I would go ahead and flip to 12/12 now/soon, then just keep (gently) bending and tying down anything that gets too close to the light...

    Tricomes

“Too early” is subjective - depends on what you’re going for. I don’t really see any amber trichomes showing, so yes, that was harvested earlier than I would have aimed for.

Finally a flower September 03 can we make it or is it impossible to stop the rot!

Looks like you got them some nitrogen! Color looks much better.

    Brainstorming shed/outbuilding plans…

Just to clarify, the shed in question doesn’t exist yet. I’m comfortable with tools and have built several sheds from scratch. If I decide to do this, I’ll start from scratch and build it for the sole purpose of indoor gardening.

    Brainstorming shed/outbuilding plans…

Noted, thanks. If I end up doing this, I’ll do it right - pour and seal a floor slab, then build from scratch using typical construction materials rather than buying a flimsy ready-made sheds.

    Best pump sprayer?

Yep. It works very well! I mixed up some spinocid and dosed the whole area around my plants (avoiding flowering plants so I don’t kill any bees). I did notice that on the lower setting it’s more of a spray and not quite so atomized. Oh well, still WAY better than the little pump sprayers, etc...

    Brainstorming shed/outbuilding plans…

I think all you really need is a recliner and a mini fridge… Maybe a coffee table. Haha!

    Brainstorming shed/outbuilding plans…

Good points, tracker. Yes, I would need AC, dehum and heater, and my goal would be to get those automated with one of the nifty environmental controllers I see available. I would prefer to avoid the need for supplemental CO2, but I suppose that’s unavoidable if I go for a truly sealed room…

    Brainstorming shed/outbuilding plans…

What’s up, everyone. I’m just doing a little brainstorming for a future project. I’m picturing a ~5 foot by 8 foot well insulated “outbuilding” that could be run as a sealed grow room with a couple 600 watt lights. The attached picture is just one example of a shed like I’m considering...

    Best pump sprayer?

I’m sure it’ll work just fine. I’m only being picky since I just dropped $170 on it!

    Best pump sprayer?

My Hudson arrived yesterday! Woohoo! I haven’t tried it yet. Hopefully it’s not a problem that the corrugated rubber hose is squished a bit flat…

    Gelato Dream, Amnesia Haze

Those look to me like they’ve got at least 3 weeks to go. NOW would be the time to plan ahead and think about a rain shelter if that’s a concern where you are.

Integrated Pest Management (IPM) - What’s your routine?

I’m intrigued by Regalia, but goddam it’s pricey… Any others have experience with Regalia (or other products designed to boost resistance)?

DIY Airlift/Vortex Compost Tea Brewer (5-gal)

Just giving this thread a little bump since I’m back at it after a hiatus and I’m about to build another brewer. :) I couldn’t find a water bottle w/o handle this go around, so I stopped by a home brewing store and picked up a 6-gallon plastic carboy. Same deal. Let the organic goodness commence!

    SpicySativa's Organic Garden

Hey, Mohican! I’m back at it after a ~6 year “hiatus” - outdoor this go around, since I just moved and don’t have a “Medicine Cabinet” up and running yet. I actually just moved about a month ago, so I got a very late start. All good. I’m sure I’ll have something to show for it in a month and a...

Integrated Pest Management (IPM) - What’s your routine?

That’s what I’m talking about! Thanks, Rurumo and others! I think you may have chimed in on my other thread about strain selection? If you haven’t figured this out yet, I’m a guy who likes to plan everything out ahead of time AND come up with contingency measures to implement if/when problems...

Integrated Pest Management (IPM) - What’s your routine?

Thanks man. So you’re doing spinosad, wait X days, fungicide, wait X days, repeat? How often are you spraying? And what’s your fungicide of choice these days? My “go to” sprays are neem (emulsified with Pro-Tekt), spinosad, and potassium bicarbonate. I’ve been using been more often than...

Integrated Pest Management (IPM) - What’s your routine?

What’s up, everyone? Let’s talk about IPM. Going along with the whole “ounce of prevention…” theme, I’d like to come up with a routine/schedule for preventative maintenance in my garden. More specifically, I’d like to come up with a short list of organic sprays and/or soil drenches that I can...

    Let’s talk about plant size

Interesting… Thanks, guys. For me this isn’t about production/yield, it’s about quality. I definitely learned the importance of proper training and pruning from my small-scale indoor experience…
