growing in a home in ca.

Everyone's got a family - are you talking about living with your children or your parents? If you're talking about your children, then it's your house, I think everything has been covered already. But if you're talking about growing in your parent's house (without their knowledge and...

    How often to water seedings?

Like ebcrew said, the soil has to be satureated from the start! If it's not, it will dry out real fast. Keep it moist for at least a few days, untill it starts showing new growth, then you can back off a little.

    Interesting dilemma

What he said was - "I have a single daylight cfl which is plenty of light for a seedling. Its about 3 inches away from the surface of the soil.". To me that means the daylight CFL is about 3" from the surface, not the seed.

    Interesting dilemma

My first thought is "How deep did you bury the seed, in the first place?". A sprouted seed should only be buried 1/4" (or less). It sounds like that poor thing has been fighting it's way up from the bottom!

    Trim leaves on new plants?

I'm assuming you are a new grower. Here is my advice - stick to the basics and get good at growing healthy plants. At the same time, do a lot of research. Once you have mastered the basics and done a ton of research; then, and only then, you can start experimenting with some of these "fancy"...

    DWC?

The exposed roots that are hanging in mid-airt do get water! They get it by being constantly bombarded by the "Spray" of popping bubbles, this provides a constant supply of highly oxygenated water. If you have any doubt about how effective this is; just put your hand above the surface of the...

"Cook" just means to let it set and give the micro-organisms time to establish themselves. Keep the soil moist during this time.

Will my plants get root bound?

You could up-pot to 5 gal.sized pots and that might give a little better yield (that really depends on several things). But the main reason I'm responding to this thread is to say that "Rootbound is really a state of mind". When you pull the plant out of the pot it's in, you can see what...
