    Over potting. Need advice.

Don't "massage" the root ball. Don't try to feel the roots. They're plants - not tits!

Can I Use HPS HIGH BAY LIGHTS For My Garden ?

A few people said a 400 watt HID uses more than 400 watts, but didn't know why. One person said about 450 watts, but also didn't know why. Here is the reason: 400 watts for the bulb, plus about 10% for the ballast. That's for a magnetic ballast (which is what those fixtures have. An...

    How much water?

You're welcome, no problemo! I've never grown in anything that big (16 gallons), but the 1/4 volume "Rule of thumb" should scale up nicely. It works pretty well for anything from a 4" pot to a 5 gallon bucket, in my experience. It may take a little trial and error to find your "Sweet Spot"...

    Good Link for Nute info

Don't believe everything you read! Most of that is good information, but some of it is pretty controversial. You should always consult several sources - and then do what Uncle Ben says!

    How much water?

I have found that, if a "pot" is properly thirsty, it should take about 1/4 of it's volume to water it. So, I would say about 4 gallons - maybe less if it isn't that well dried out. Of course it really depends on how absorbant your soil is, but 4 gallons is still going to be a good place to start.

Help!? Seed not opening completely, stuck to seedling leaves..

The shell usually falls off by itself. Sometimes it takes a little patience, sometimes a little help. I have had shells that just wouldn't let go, they actually caused damage by "biting" into the first set of real leaves. But looking at the big picture - that was no big deal! The fact is...

Why is the top bud called Cola?

This answer has been true for over 40 years! All the other answers seem to be nothing more than bad guesses and bogus references to Soda cans. A cola is nothing more than a big, fat, tail!

    Dual Angled Lights?

Multiple light sources are always better, if applied properly. There are several reasons for this. A single light will create "shadow areas"; whereas, light comming from another direction can hit those areas with direct light. This translates into "Better Penetration". Any light source...

any tips on my medium mix?

For the OP: Your list of ingredients is mostly all "Nutrients" - not nearly enough plain old growing medium. Way to hot! You list 1 C. coffee grounds, 2 C. Perlite and 3 1/2 C. Coco Coire. That's 6 1/2 cups of "Soil"; the other 9 1/2 cups are all nutes! Here is a recipe I reccomend for...

    Evaporative coolers

Uncle buck is absolutely right! The only way a Swamp Cooler will work well inside is if you duct outside air, directly into the intake of the cooler (not very efficient or easy)! That is why you always see them mounted externally, usually on the roof. But if set-up and used properly, they...

Wrap Backs of CFL with Foil

I hear what you're saying about retaining heat - sure, the foil will absorb heat from the bulb. But, that is heat that "already exsists" - no high temperature "Hot spots" are actually being created. What I'm disputing is "that crinkeled foil will focus and condense the reflected light into...

    Stone cold lock list

California is supposed to be a shoe-in for recreational use in the 2016 election. We have 5 seperate initiatives currantly working thier way through the system. The only way I see this thing not happening, is if the vote gets divided too thinly by having too many choices!

    Evaporative coolers

Evaporative coolers (or Swamp Coolers, as we call them) work very well, but only in areas that have low humidity on a regular basis. I live in the Southwest - USA, an area that is essentially a desert (well, a semi-desert anyway!). Swamp Coolers are perfect for this type of area because they...

Wrap Backs of CFL with Foil

I have always said that "Hotspots" from using foil is just a myth; just one of those things that gets passed along. I have said, many times, nobody has actually had that happen - ever! The real reason not to use aluminum foil is because it is a relatively poor reflector. Now, with that being...

Does anyone use an Under Current system?

You say "Under Current system" as if we should all understand what that means. I don't, and I'm sure there are others who don't. What is it? Is that a brand name or some kind of a Hydroponic system or what?

Is water made from the evaporator on AC distilled?

I don't know what you mean by "evaporator", but the water that is produced by an air conditioner is just atmospheric moisture that freezes to the coldest surfaces; and in turn melts back into "water". It's not distilled, it has whatever crap the ambient air was expossed to,still floating in it!
