Strange looking 4 week old marijuana plant. Please help!

Overwatering + peat moss can easily lead to a low pH (acid) condition. Test the pH of your runoff.

Strange looking 4 week old marijuana plant. Please help!

Good stuff, I use GH in my hydro grows. The problem could be pH. ProMix is largely peat moss which can easily go acid if you're not careful. At any rate, looks like a nitrogen or magnesium deficiency. A low pH would certainly explain a magnesium lockout.

Strange looking 4 week old marijuana plant. Please help!

If you're just using regular ProMix it isn't soil but a soilless mix. Your plant is nute starved. Try adding worm castings or using hydro nutes.

    germinate seeds with rooting gel?

I wouldn't, unnecessary. Here's how I do it: I take a fast food napkin and mist it with pH'd water till it's wet. I prefer the brown napkins since they're not bleached, they're just plain brown paper fiber. I set my seeds on the napkin then place another napkin on top and again mist with...

I'm Thinking I Need To Wear A Mask

...when handling perlite. I was mixing up some of my mix earlier and I just got a bad nose bleed, and I never get nose bleeds.

    What Am I Doing Wrong?

Why not? The NPK of human urine is around 15-1-2 and it's sterile as long as you don't have a UTI. I will, of course, dilute it by a bunch and pH the solution. No, I'm not being impatient, I get lots of red hairs but no cloudy trichs no matter how long I wait. I had a plant start to die once...

    What Am I Doing Wrong?

Update: The growth seems to have slowed down by a lot. I'm thinking of giving them a shot of ~200-300 ppm urine after transplanting to larger pots, in trying to stay with organics. Yes, I said urine. :)

    smelly veg

No worries, mate, it just means you have healthy plants. Mine start to smell (good) when they're about a foot tall. Also, it doesn't necessarily mean that your plants aren't healthy if they don't have a strong smell. :)

    I need a little advice

I have microblinds which really leave no cracks or holes to peer through. I tacked up a thick, opaque black trash bag behind the blinds and you can't see the smallest amount of light escaping even on a dark night.

    What Am I Doing Wrong?

Yeah, that's just it, I don't get that at all, even with the much smaller amount of growth nute during flower, which would seem to indicate that the perlite is holding onto a bunch of N. I've been using nothing but GH nutes on the plants, too, with nothing else, and I've been wondering if that...

    What Am I Doing Wrong?

Thanks! I'm convinced that others are onto something with the P deficiency. The pure perlite holds a lot of nutes and I'm thinking it's holding onto a lot of N from the veg stage. I also was mixing the GH nutes in the ratios from the bottle so they were still getting a smaller amount of growth...

    Ceramic Metal Halide question

Magnetic ballasts are louder than electronic ones because they operate at a much lower frequency (50Hz-60Hz vs 20kHz). They don't get really loud until they begin to fail, think "street light". The major drawback to "digital" (electronic) ballasts is that they emit radio frequency which can be...

    Best way to make clones

Here's how I do it: I drill holes in the bottom of 8 oz. yogurt cups, fill them with perlite and then soak it in pH'd water and let stand overnight or even two days to pH the medium. I take a ball point pen and make a hole in the center of the perlite. I take the cutting and dip it in pH'd...

    What Am I Doing Wrong?

Temp: Around a constant 75°F to 76°F with lights on, measured continuously at the plant tops using a digital aquarium thermometer. Lights: 18-6 for veg, 12-12 for flower. 400w MH for veg, 400w HPS for flower with two, two bar fluorescents on the sides (once they're out of seedling stage)...

Can i have some advice please?

I just hang my temp probe right at the plant tops and as long as the temp stays in range it's all good.

pH up & down concentrate dilution method or ratio ?

This depends on a lot, not the least of which it total alkalinity. Total alkalinity is defined as a solution's (in this case, water or water with nutes) ability to resist a change in it's pH. This is affected by the total dissolved solids in the water (or nute solution). The higher the TDS, the...

    Ceramic Metal Halide question

No problem as long as the bulb type and wattage match. I use commercially available bulbs in my 400w XTrasun switchable ballast. Putting a 150w bulb in a 175w ballast will dramatically reduce the bulb life if not burn it out immediately.

    Is 900 watts to much?

It's difficult to give your plants too much light as long as you have the heat under control, which shouldn't be an issue with LEDs.
