    EC and Tap Water

Thanks for the info. I already decided to go with the EC is additive approach. I'm 90% sure that the burn issue I've been having is high chloride levels. Flushing seems like an easier and cheaper approach than RO for now.

What he said. Try and mix it in. Or add a little soil with the lime next time.

    Gnat Larvae

Gnatrol, Azamax, Mosquito bits, sand or gnat nix top dressing - there are tons of solutions. Fungus gnats usually indicates that the soil/medium is too wet. If it's just a single plant, you can direct a small desk fan (~3-4" fan) across the soil and that will kill them off in a few days.

My tap comes in around 8ph and I just add nutes and it drops to ~6ph.

    Lights on spraying products

Are the plants healthy and vibrant? If so, I'd spray just about anything on them during lights on. Neem and Rosemary are good preventatives for both bugs and fungus problems. Weak plants or plants that are under attack, suffering lock out, etc - then I'd spray lights out.

    Which approach will win?

I don't accept the premise that spending more equates to better quality or that cheap means my equipment will be outdated and/or broken in a couple (2?) years. For example, I still have working 2nd Gen Lumtek Ballasts - over 10 years old (before dimming and super lumens) - they'll still fire a...

    spider mites

My guess is you have mites outside the grow that are getting in. I had that problem for a few years, some flowers in my yard were just infested with mites and eventually they'd make their way into the grow. You need to take some proactive/preventative measures. Ie treat with neem every couple...

    Best foliage spray

PGR depends on the PGR - ie must of us would say stay away from Paclobutrazol. Others aren't aren't as scarey. I like Nitrozyme and DynaGro Foliar (or Grow) for foliar sprays, but it also depends on why you're spraying. If I have a CalMg deficiecy, then I spray Calmg. If I'm dealing with...

Why isn't this the perfect light for budget grow?

I don't see any infrared diodes. If you're lighting a single ~3ft tall plant that light would probably be fine.

    Should i be flushing

It's not that simple. You should flush when you overfertilize and create a salt build up in the soil/medium. Otherwise there is no need to flush. Plants use nutes until you cut them down, so there is no real need to flush at all.

    Should i be flushing

If you think you have lock out or on the verge of lock out/toxicity, then I'd flush, otherwise the plant needs nutes. In your case, you're way off, so I'd probably be feeding those plants. I'd say you have at least 3 weeks to go and probably much longer.

    EC and Tap Water

Yeah, but that's so easy to deal with. Chlormide is a bit more difficult. Wouldn't be a big deal except setting up an RO where there is no plumbing isn't a realistic option. That said, I'm just going to step up how often I flush/leach and I'm sure I'll see an improvement. I used to...
