You don't need the pump, or any tubing. Just water, sugar, and yeast in the jug with a piece of cheesecloth on top will emit CO2. How are you ventilating heat from your lights without displacing all the CO2? Is your grow in an enclosed space to trap the CO2, or is that the corner of a larger room?

It's not healthy to use dog or cat shit in compost intended for edible (or smokable) crops. It can pass on diseases and parasites to your plants. The possible benefits just don't justify the risk. Maybe if it laid fallow for a few years, it might become safer to use. I don't know for sure, though.
