The myth of bottled nutes and TLO

Microbes are only one reason why not to use bottled nutrients. Us 'Organic Snobs' also think about the environment. I know it's crazy talk, but I don't think it's sustainable, or good for our environment to ship a bunch of bottles across the world that are 98% water, and then take all the...

Quickest way to break down a root ball??

Tried Bokashi quite a while ago, and due to space/time requirements, I've held off messing around with it any further. I'm certainly no expert, but I've been through the process, so if you have questions shout! P-

Need some help choosing an organic method.

You're going to have to do some reading on organics. There are varying opinions because this this isn't a hydrostore bottled nute where you add 10ml of the red bottle with 15ml of the green bottle, pH and that's that. Cannabis has many cultivars that grow in many areas of the world in many...

Quickest way to break down a root ball??

This would definitely be a great organic way to speed up decomposition. Lactobacillus cultures work well as an EM-1 substitute. I bought a bottle of EM-1 to make bokashi bran, so I'm using the left over just because I have it. I leave the root balls in the soil, and let the soil break it down as...

SST (sprouted seed tea) do's and donts?

My concern is what does it take to denature an enzyme? Could the low pH or the alcohol (organic solvent) denature the enzymes? Would we be losing some of the plant growth hormones and regulators in the fermentation process? I'd love to know your thoughts. This is above my paygrade, and I haven't...

Fam, I was trying to find something specific in my notes, but I'm not seeing it. I think the 'Alaskan Humus' is basically just peat moss. Pretty much the only things I buy from the grow store are lights, some venting, etc. P-

Fam, I'll try and answer some of this real quick. Obviously lots of ways to skin a cat, this isj ust my method. 1. Water it, mix it up. Water it more if needed. Just make sure you get it all well hydrated, but not saturated if that makes sense. I mix my soil in an old bed sheet by turning it...

I'm not missing the point, I know what you are getting at. We all love insecticides that keep on keeping on. I will say this, I have done azamax soil drenches... your plants will not thank you for it. I would opt for neem meal in the soil, and topdressed. The point I'm trying to make is once...

Plants leaves do not allow the humic acid molecules through the stomata - they are too big. Better used in the soil. If you want to use a humic source, use a fulvic acid for foliar. The molecules are smaller and will permeate the leaves. Looks like they were using azadirachtin, not neem oil...

Buckwheat and rice hulls break down and will need to be reamended. If you don't want floating perlite, get some pumice or scoria. Gypsum in and of itself is not a liming agent. You want gypsum for the sulfur (which turns into sulfuric acid and breaks the carbonate bonds), and then you need...

I often talk about how the outside effects inside grows. I've noticed it for years in all different styles of growing. Didn't matter if the room stayed at exactly the same temps and humidity levels, season seems to have an effect imo. I have also stepped up my teas adding more frequent, but low...

From what I can see, the soil mites, earthworms, etc do an excellent job of aerating my soil. I also have quite a bit of pumice and rice hulls. In future mixes, I would like to experiment with 50% peat since the worms turn so much of the media into castings so quickly. I find the outside...
