I worked as an individual for close to 20 years before ever joining a union. I'd already had at least 5 legitimate job references to put on my resume by the time I was 18. I never had the problem you are describing. When I asked for raises I usually got them. When I didn't get them, I perused other employers. I have always set a standard for myself, and worked hard to keep that standard. Seems to have worked out ok for me.

I think that was going a bit off the deep end Burt, Foggy is an ideologue and his motives are not based on his evaluation of other's worthiness for healthcare. He simply believes that the method of delivery of these services and how they are paid for is different than that which we believe. That just talks about the profits of the top health insurers, but the majority of their income comes from their investments into the economy. The money they make is not off of taking insurance payments that much money over how much they pay hospitals.
It is ok to not have to win a conversation that race got brought up 'accidentally' and everyone got triggered.
As long as you are not later going to argue that government programs aimed to helping minorities get to a level playing field, I can buy that.
I have to admit i dont think i have ever been turned down for a raise when ive asked. Mind you i used to go straight to the owner and present my case, not the idiot's above me, who usually earned less. I now just work for myself.

Times have changed. I also had no issues with securing good jobs. Those days are over. I would like to see everyone make a living wage and that option is not available to a lot of people. Without collective bargaining and power in numbers the low skilled workers are taken advantage of........ surely you see that correct?
