that would be like saying it was Democrats who repeatedly blocked civil rights...... Oops....bad example.
Here's the way to learn the answer to every question you'll ever have. And the rest isn't bad advice either.dude are you serious....your answer is money...ROFL..please do go on...explain how it was about money...here I will even pull some info off PBS.org to stand by what I was saying..you do the same for your comment about the "money".
On November 6, 1860 Abraham Lincoln was elected President of the United States -- an event that outraged southern states. The Republican party had run on an anti-slavery platform, and many southerners felt that there was no longer a place for them in the Union. On December 20, 1860, South Carolina seceded. By February 1, 1861, six more states -- Mississippi, Florida, Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana, and Texas -- had split from the Union. The seceded states created the Confederate States of America and elected Jefferson Davis, a Mississippi Senator, as their provisional president.
In his inaugural address, delivered on March 4, 1861, Lincoln proclaimed that it was his duty to maintain the Union. He also declared that he had no intention of ending slavery where it existed, or of repealing the Fugitive Slave Law -- a position that horrified African Americans and their white allies. Lincoln's statement, however, did not satisfy the Confederacy, and on April 12 they attacked Fort Sumter, a federal stronghold in Charleston, South Carolina. Federal troops returned the fire. The Civil War had begun
south carolina seceded before abe took office. thinking they were a free state they fired on what was already theirs to get the foreigners out.
if the fed govnt came in and said you are not to use your car anymore what would you do? slavery would of eventually fadded away as technology progressed.
and not all whites owned slaves. the war was fought for one reason, the same reason for every single war in history, ECONOMICS. if the south had it their way, the north would of had to go to outside sources for food, clothes, etc.
in a republic, the minority still has rights and can not be taken away by the majority, and im sure this is what the south was feeling. when you feel your rights are being taken away, you fight.
a lot of the north sympathized with the south and even fought for them. the union just did what it this country does best, take over and distribute.
And I have yet to see proof of your intelligence....Therefore You must have none. Read a book. Don't just skim through Wikipedia and assume you know everything about that topic. My history professor always used to say, "If you're going to be right, you're not going to be lazy. There are no shortcuts when it comes to knowledge."and by the way....Not one of you Confederates have shown any proof to what you state about it not being about about Slavery...so you must be wrong
slavery and racism to have two different roots. one a simple matter of the need for labor, the other nothing but the dread of the seemingly unknown.Just in my lifetime you still had folks making others drink from separate water fountains and such and this was 100 years after the so called ending of slavery.
whatever the justification, it will always come down to economic gain. an increase in territory means and increase in possible financial gain, the domination of one religion over another means economic domination as well as proving the superiority of opposing spiritual fantasies. whether it is to pull a people out of poverty or to increase the sphere of influence of one particular group, it is the power of profit that everyone is fighting over. all else is merely the mask we wear while doing evil.I would disagree when you say wars are one and the same with roots in financial gain...with territories ( ask a Palestinian )...With religion ( ask a Muslim )..ask anyone of these and your answer would have very little to do with financial gain..
thats a good point. even after slavery there was still racial unjustice. so i guess the 600,000+ deaths of people from the war was really worth it huh. slavery might of grown, but if the union was so good, they could of tried to convince the new states to not accept it.Well speaking from a Black/Brown mans point of view I don't believe slavery would have just faded out in the South. I even find it somewhat insulting that a white/pink man would tell me that.. Had it not been for the Civil War slavery would have grew...Faded out never...Fought out yes !!!!!! Just in my lifetime you still had folks making others drink from separate water fountains and such and this was 100 years after the so called ending of slavery..so please forgive me when I say that I don't believe NOR TRUST that it would have just faded out....
Now far as War you do have a point about economics, but I would disagree when you say wars are one and the same with roots in financial gain...with territories ( ask a Palestinian )...With religion ( ask a Muslim )..ask anyone of these and your answer would have very little to do with financial gain..
that rings true with a lot of americans unfortunately.London has a copy/paste education....and it shows.
Without a foundation to work from...which takes many years to develop (properly) ...he/she finds info, but can't figure out the context or connectivity to other issues.
Permanently adrift.... easily misled.
there is always the possibility that without the carnage of the civil war, its detrimental effect on the south and the insistence of the victors that it was all about freeing the slaves, there would be less reason for so many to blame black americans for their ancestors' role in that sad page of our history and we might have found less resistance to the civil rights movement. maybe we should blame the federal government's use of slavery as a justification for their interference in states' rights for much of the inequalities we fight today. maybe not.so if the war didn't happen, slavery would've faded, and the fight for equality would have went at roughly the same pace.
A soviet type school would be a vast improvement over the current system. At least then students would know who their leaders are. It's simply not taught in the soviet type skool system of the USA anymore.
it was never a war based on slavery!!!! That is a myth that is feed to us in the history books in school (the same place that said that drugs were bad). It was a war based on the the rebels fighting to keep their freedom. and to keep the gov't small ad out of their business. GO VA.
One out of how many.Keep them coming.
I feel sorry for you having so much hate.
And this man Rev. Jeremiah Wright is a piece of dog shit.
He is not worth the air we breath.
and rev. j wright is a true american hero who has performed more patriotic duties for this country than any of you jerkoffs here.
This statement is a fucking joke
