Two comments: Two states (ONLY two) require their delegates to follow the popular vote. However the penalty for not doing so is only a small fine. The accusation that Bush "stole" the election has often been made, but all the evidence indicates otherwise. But people want to believe it so they assume it to be true

Gore did fight the results. He just didn't have a case. He sent an army of lawyers to Florida to demand absentee military ballots that arrived without a postmark not be counted. That was shameful.

"Fairness" has nothing to do with the electoral vote. Why would you even make such an odd assertion? The electoral college was created in the Constitution because delegates from low population colonies would not join the union without guarantees they would not be dominated by the more heavily populated states. Not about "fairness", but about "balance of power'. The Constitution was/is a contract between the Federal government and the States/Colonies.

giving every state a balance of power is being fair..If i had 20 kids in a class and also had 63 cookies but gave each child a equal amount of cookies (3) would you not call that being fair ??? now are you about to mince words for the sake of conversation..

"But all Racists are Republicans" I know a couple of Democrats that are racist. so I have to disagree with you there. If I'm not mistaken, I saw several "Angry White Males" in the Occupy movement, also. You're convicting many based on the guilt of a few.
