i go from a t-5 for the first week to a 1000 watter. the 1000 watts starts out at about 32" and is slowly lowered 3-4" at a time over a weeks time. the light ends up about 18" above the tops. i use a 6" vented hood.

from your info. i'm assuming you're growing hydro. i like 5.8 myself. the problem you mention is a common one. it can usually be attributed to too small a rez. if you have too many plants drinking from a small recirculating rez, you're gonna see dramatic ph drift.

i don't see any tacos, but i see a pretty dry medium. plants don't look bad at all. it could be cooler too. mid 70's is good.

i can't see much of anything from those pics. soil folks usually feed once a week. what ppm are you feeding at what ph? airflow is really important. w/o it you could easily get rust.
