Cannatrol vs. Freeze Dryer

In my mind i was like ahhhhhhhhhh.... I did however accidently not send all the racks back oops havent told em yet
I've got my guys making me a few more racks. Nice owning part of a shop that has the ability to make just about anything I ever need.

1 wire for the thermoelectric cooler and the other for the sensors is my guess.

It would be a shame if you accidentally forgot to send back that controller unit. I would be able to help you rehome it.
The more i think about it im really confused by the wires they went into the door but there was nothing i saw visually that would require wires. I almost want to email and ask them what could need wires in the door. It didnt appear to have sensors or anything in it.

Just guesses but it could be wiring to a door open/closed sensor, wiring to lighting, could have multiple environment sensors, that sponge moisture detector, or a lock/unlock sensor.

It most likely is a modified fridge. That would be the cheaper manufacturing route for a small company. It could just be pre routed wires intended for the display like bluebrother suggested.

sometimes deleting old components costs more than just leaving them there and making it nonfunctional.

if I was wishcasting my new toy, those wires would be for the electrochromic glass window.

Has anyone seen any real recorded humidity logging from one of these things? I'm curious about how much fluctuation there is during the cooling cycle

There isn't much fluctuation, you set it to what you want your moisture level at. If you set it to the slope function, it will take whatever the starting humidity is, and slopes it slowly to your set point over the course of the cycle. All my runs have started anywhere from 80-89% and slope down to whatever I've set it to over the course of the cycle.
Or you can set it to step, and it will hold whatever you set it to during the cycle, but it pulls more moisture out quicker this way, as it maintains whatever you set it to.
I've done runs in both settings, and slope is the better option, as it slowly drops the moisture down.

I just hoped it wasnt a modified "other" fridge. For the price youd think it would be one off. Hopefully it comes in time for harvest and well see what it does

I thought about it and im not so sure more racks is better. I could totally see an argument on airflow considering I think theres 12 slots and they sent 6 trays. If memory serves me correctly. I was disappointed in the amount if trays but i could see them making it harder to function from airflow or just the amount if material may overload it if all slots were full

looks sweet - will be interested to see the results. Curious if your unit came with one fan (peltier unit) or two? Poking around the web I decided that they originally came with one, but they switched to a version with two ...

I played around with my 1st batch, and ran it cooler with a lower dew point, and it came out real tasty. I'm running this next batch at defaults, and gonna do a run of bubble hash to see how it turns out. After washing, going to run it on a 2 day dry 1 day cure to slow the drying process down some. Hoping to hit a sweet spot with the bubble hash. My phone been blowing up this last week with everybody asking when I'm going to do a run and wanting some.
The chart is very helpful once you understand how dew point correlates to relative humidity.
Some folks are trying a real long cure cycle, but haven't posted results yet.
I let it run its 4dry/4cure and then put them into Grove Bags, and boy, what a change it makes over mason jars. Just smoked a wee bit last night, literally 1/4 of a joint, and was pretty damn high. Had some in my old drying room to compare, and what came out of the Cannatrol is far better in just about every way.
I will be doing my second run in my cannatrol soon. Just curious why you choose to go to a grove bag after the 4 day cure and not just extend the cure in the cannatrol?

Because I've got a lot to go thru, can't tie it up, need it drying more smoke.
I've let 1 batch sit for 3 weeks, and it got way better, but have to open space to get more drying.

Do you have time for an update on the cannatrol?
I’m close to pulling the trigger on one but really could use first hand feedback.

I have 3 Cannatrol Cold Cure units. They are AMAZING! Order one now! You won't regret it!!!

I've ordered extra racks and packed each one FULL of bud. I use EVERY available slot to put in a rack. You can't see any 'silver' when I'm done packing the racks (single layer only). And it performs just the same as when I was filling to about 50%.

Set it. And forget it!!!

Thanks, appreciate the feedback, I’ve noticed your comments elsewhere. you seem very satisfied and enthusiastic about the product, my skeptical outlook hears this in the tone of an infomercial though, lol, no offense. I’d also hope to hear from a few that shared their anticipatory excitement upon purchase/receipt, but have since gone silent. I’m really trying to convince myself to buy one, but think of all the other equipment/modifications I could make for the same investment. I have to say, the potential this unit offers for my situation could be life changing. Only one year warranty is a little scary too.

I get it. It's a sizeable investment.

I always struggled with the drying. The curing not so much. But 2-3 weeks of drying in a space where you can't 100% control humidity/temps can be nerve-racking. I literally put the buds into the unit, turn it on, and walk away. Plug & Play at its finest!

I share with friends and they are AMAZED at the overall quality/taste/smell, etc... I just finished drying/curing my 3rd harvest using the Cannatrol. After my first, I ordered 2 more. They were that impressive. I would order a Cannatrol LONG before a freeze drier!

On my 1st harvest, I didn't have room for everything so about 25% was dried/cured the old way. It's not even close. I can tell the difference in what was put in the Cannatrol IMMEDIATELY!!!

You can also contact them directly and get a Veterans discount if you are eligible. I think it was either $100 or $150 off.

.

Tikbalang I'm in the same boat as you, love the info but would like to hear the ABCs from other users. I just don't think there are too many owners on the forum.

For me it's just to work out the details for payment and shipping and I'll be picking one up. Would love to get a discount on it.

Appreciate the follow-up. Pretty close to convinced, the environmental control issue is big for me, I have very small windows of “good” weather for ambient conditions to be helpful, leading to the question of cannatrol operating environment- I’ve seen it recommended to run it 73 degrees or less. Do you find this to be relevant? Peace of mind is worth a lot, and a successful dry/cure has been a struggle for me, hardest part of the game for me.
