My Sweet Tooth #4 started showing some slight tip curl out of nowhere, zero change to my nutrients, then I realized...it's the roots hanging into the tray. I'm good about sucking out 95% of the runoff, but I don't care if there is a little left usually...problem is, that little bit left gets more concentrated each time you feed since it's always evaporating and concentrating itself. I don't even want to say what the EC was... The Sweet Tooth is the only plant with a mass of roots hanging into the tray, so now when I'm done I dump a liter of fresh water into the tray and then drain it back out with my liquid transfer pump. Coco DTW + shallow water culture ftw hahaha

Here we are, exactly 3 weeks into 12/12. I've kept the 650R at 80% and am almost as high as I can go with it with the normal mounting hardware, although I can usually find a way to get them higher with zip ties and tape, haha. I think this height is perfect-the tallest buds are at 24 inches, the majority of the canopy is about 28-30 inches. Most have slowed their stretch to the minimum at this point. I haven't mentioned this, but I'm actually doing 3 different nutrient formulas. 1. my regular .9 EC half/half Maxi bloom/grow (+fulvic, seaweed, yucca) 2. CSL 3. 50/50 #1 and #2. I kept ending up with some of the CSL left, so I mixed in some of the Maxi formula just to see what happens. 3 separate plants don't give great side by side results, except, I can at least tell if the formula will grow a decent plant, and as you can see, at 3 weeks in, we should see the weaknesses in a formula at this point near the end of the stretch phase, but so far they look good.

I also went through and sniffed as many flowers as possible, and I'm really excited about one C99 in particular. I was hoping for a pineapple pheno, but I ended up getting a Juicy Fruit pheno instead. Now, I don't know if it's as good as the other Juicy Fruit pheno's I've seen from people, but that smell is unmistakable, it's exactly like opening a fresh pack of Juicy Fruit gum, and STRONG terps for 3 weeks. Thing is, early terps often change, so all I can do is hope this one lasts.

I took a bunch of shots to compare the leaf shapes on the C99s. I remember my old Cindy from FDM in the 00s was narrow leaf.

Sweet Tooth #4-you can see the stigma's turning brown due to successful pollination on the foremost flower. Right now, this plant has a deep smelling citrus, I can tell it's going to reek.

ESB-Nice little plant so far, fairly narrow leaves despite being a hybrid, this very well may be the sleeper hit of this cycle! Can't really describe the terps yet.

I think this is the Juicy Fruit-it actually started with very thick leaves but as you can see, they changed drastically from one node to the next. I hate generic, sickly sweet terps in general, but I love identifiable fruit flavors-blueberry, pineapple, strawberry, etc. This juicy fruit is just amazing, it's the kind of sweetness you never will get sick of, kind of like good Bubblegum terps.

Same plant I think. Btw, I hit the Juicy Fruit plant with multiple C99 males, so growing a few of each out should make for a good future Journal.

This Cindy also has promise, I think it's going to grow beastly colas....which reminds me, I need to give these girls their third (and last) dose of aspirin. I want them to have their best ability to avoid botrytis. I'm really happy with the leaf condition of my plants for this stage of growth since I'm messing around with their nutrients so much.

Thanks for stopping by and checking out my plants, have a great weekend everyone!

I tried popping an ESB... lost it, too many other strains to try... I'll get back to it..

your grows are so mathematical and clean... congrats... wish I had the time to learn all that, I'm much lazier than you are... I'll be watching, very curious about the ESB..
Thank you! I'm glad I have the one ESB going, though I was planning on more originally. It's cool, I was thinking it would be fun to grow more ESB out side by side with the Nigerian Sunshine. I'm psyched to see what the one I have is like, I have a good feeling about it. I just reread a bunch of ESB posts at UK420, I love the way they talk about it. I like what I'm seeing so far from all the FDM strains, I believe they've done a good job with their repros-plants are all healthy and vigorous, and the terps are starting to bring back memories! Sooo many good strains were from the SPG cut-the entire Sweet Tooth line, Mikado, Island Sweet Skunk, and a bunch of others. And this Juicy Fruit smell is so good I'll probably be sniffing branches every time I feed-I don't do that normally, I swear.

And then I wonder how you found out it smells so good if you don't do it lol have a? What does FDM stand for

Yay, my gift from Impello Bio arrived-I'd like to thank the folks over there once again for the bottles they sent me to try (this was for my Corn Steep Liquor/potassium bicarbonate info). I needed to reorder Tribus too, and they just threw a big bottle in with the Silicic acid-very cool people over there, from customer service on up. I actually like their whole line of products, everything is pure quality-they've got a great amino acid supplement that I wanted to try before discovering the Corn Steep Liquor, which is turning out to be an amazing fertilizer. Both the pure CSL and the 50/50 CSL/Maxi plants are looking vigorous and healthy with no indication of impending deficiencies and they'll be exactly one month into 12/12 on Saturday. Bud development and growth is on par with the Maxi only plants.

Impello's new Silicic Acid product is called Dune, which I love by the way, all things Dune. I'm definitely playing the new Funcom Dune game when it comes out, I just wish they had made it into an MMORPG like Secret World. Moving on... Impello touts the "superior stability" of their proprietary formula, and I have no reason to doubt their word because I know they worked on this a long time, and Tribus has the best 3rd party test results for viable organisms around. The recommended dose is 1 ml per gal, which honestly, I like better than Grow Genius because it's hard to measure .3 ml per 3 gal, especially if you just want 1 liter of foliar. 1 ml per gal is still concentrated, just easier for me to measure in the small amounts I use. I'll be dosing my nutrient solution with both Tribus and Dune tonight, and I'll keep you posted on how it's working out. Also gave final aspirin dose last night.

I tried out the new Dune silicic acid product last night at 1 ml per gallon and then checked my PH at the end (I don't usually test PH, I just know how much citric acid I need to add to make it perfect) and just like with my old Grow Genius brand, there was no effect on PH. Whether or not to choose Silicic acid over a potassium silicate, aside from the potentially much better absorption, is whether or not you need to use PH up or PH down. I've known a lot of folks who solely use potassium silicate for their PH up (added first to rez when mixing of course, unlike potassium hydroxide), so if you are in that group, I'd just keep doing what you've been doing.

But if you want a bioavailable silica product that has no effect on PH, then look into silicic acid products. I'd be interested in doing a side by side in the future, maybe the next time I grow more than one of the same clone, with a Dune silicic acid group and a control. I'm glad they sent me a big bottle of it so I can test to my heart's content. Just an FYI, I asked if they are coming out with smaller bottles for people to try, since I personally don't like investing into a large bottle until I know if I like the product and they said they should have their usual range of bottle sizes in the next month or so.

Here is an interesting paper that summarizes a lot of research on both potassium silicate, and on stabilized silicic acid: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6027496/. Interesting how foliar treatment of potatoes with Silicic acid increased yield by 20%, and even just dipping a seed potato in 1 ml/L silicic acid a single time prior to planting resulted in an increased yield.

Les Fleurs du Mal was an anthology of poetry by Charles Baudelaire. It's generally translated as Flowers of Evil. Just stone posting. Your journal is bursting with information as always!
I knew it from somewhere! Actually, the guy behind FDM goes by Baudelaire on the forums, he's active on Overgrow and UK420 (or at least he used to be.) Also, "Flowers of Evil" sounds much cooler than mine.

Any other dorks out there using mechanical timers go into their grow rooms this morning to feed and find the lights off? lol....this happens to me every year, I even thought about it the other day, but forgot again. I just skipped the feed, we'll call it drought stressing.

He he he I went to this kicking and screaming View attachment 5222545My wife and son threatened me with a laptop to run my grow (this would be my nightmare)View attachment 5222546but I will say that I got lazy and went with it lol
Nice Jeff! I know I should go digital but I have like 3 or 4 extra mechanical timers because I bought a couple 2 packs dirt cheap for an Amazon black friday deal and now when one dies, I'll just keep replacing until I run out, then maybe I'll go digital lol

I almost replied Flowers of Evil but you beat me to it LOL. Everytime I think of C. Baudelaire I think Lemony Snickets LOL and the Baudelaire family.

That would be me :) Good morning
